White Rabbit Syndrome!

We're down to counting days instead of months and weeks until we leave ... it seemed like we had plenty of time and now we're down to 20 days! We still need to get the yard, house and 5th wheel "winterized" so they don't need much tending while we're gone ... and then there's the car that needs to have a few things done on it to help ensure a trouble free journey ... yes, the time is ticking for sure!

One Month

The days are clicking by ... it's one month from our "leave" date and there's so much to do .. not only getting ready for the trip but there is a lot to do on our yard and house before we leave. We both have our lists that keep growing each day so nothing falls through the cracks - of course adding to the lists daily means we're not checking off enough!!! I'm actually going to get our suitcases down this evening and start putting things together that we won't need until we leave. I usually don't pack until the night before we leave but I don't think procrastination is a good idea this time!

We actually did accomplish quite a bit this past weekend as far as the trip planning is concerned; I even made several of our hotel reservations! Here are a couple of things we're hoping to see on our trip.

Count Down

Where did all the time go??? Five weeks from today we'll be packing up the last little bit and heading off on our adventure. We've started really narrowing things down and sorting through all the tourism information we've received from the states we'll be visiting. We have a "tentative" schedule that takes us as far as Niagara Falls (about 20 days after we leave home). One of the things that's come up in our planning is national parks ... we've don't know how many we'll get to but definitely Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota, Pictured Rock National Park in Michigan, Acadia National Park in Maine and hopefully Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Ohio.

Here are some pictures for you to see why we'd like to stop and spend some time in these great places.

Making Plans

Have we mentioned that we both LOVE road trips??? There is so much to see in our country and we think the best way to see it is by car. The side benefit of car travel is that you are in control ... no "pat downs" at the airport, no delays, no layovers and no canceled flights ... yep ... road trips are the way to go!

We started making plans for this trip about a year ago. What started as "New England in the fall" has now expanded to include time in Branson, Missouri for Veteran's Week and celebrating Thanksgiving with family in Nebraska. We're also planning to be "off the beaten path" (aka Interstates) as much as possible.

You can see from the US map that we've started charting our course ... the sticky notes are for things we're hoping to see and do along the way (leaving lots of flexibility in the schedule). Since we're planning on getting down to Branson, you can see we're not even half way through the "plan" yet! We'll be adding more sticky notes soon and you'll be able to see the "plan" come together.

Thanks for joining us on our journey (even if it's through cyber travel). We value your prayers for safety on the road.
